I am using a Zapco Z-300 amp to drive my mids and highs. (225 watts x 2 @1 ohm stereo)

I have (1) 8 ohm horn and (2) 2 ohm 5 1/4's
all paralelled to each channel of the amp.

The load should be .89 ohms. Is that right?

I thought that I should have about 75 watts on each speaker but my friend is telling me that the 8 ohm driver will only see like 40-50 watts caus' it is 8 ohms...?!

Wouldn't paralleling all the drivers present a single load to each channel of .89 ohms?

How much power do you think each speaker is actually getting?

he is right...since your sub has a higher impedance it will have less power going to it.

P = V^2/R for an AC circuit such as speakers so by looking at the equation we see that as the resistance rises the power decreases...

Assuming you have a low pass passive crossover for the 5-1/4" and a high pass passive crossover for the horns, you will have a 1 ohm load from 700 (or whatever your xover point is) down from the 2 mids in parallel. And you will have an 8 ohm load from 700Hz and up because of the horns impedance. So you will have 225 watts to your mids and around 50 to your horns.
If you don't have lowpass passive crossovers on your mids you will have a 1 ohm load from 700Hz down and a .89ohm load from 700Hz up. In this case your amp will make 225 watts and your horns will see about 1/8 of that so you will have about 25-30 watts.
