Hello everyone. My cousin recently gave me a Rane ME15 and thought it might look nice in my next audio set up. Looking for info on how to make it run of a dc source, problems I face, parts I need. Maybe a schematic. Any and all info is greatly appreciated.

found a schematic of the ME15b on the rane site, but would have to open the eq up to see if there is a difference in design

I think the "b" just means balanced operation but I could be wrong.

Anyway, the Rane equipment runs off of +/-15V power supplies. To do this you could build your own DC-DC converter or buy a prebuilt supply from companies like Image Dynamics and probably others. The ID PS is pretty nice, well built and from what I can see pretty well designed. It is over 100 dollars if I remember correctly so if you have the means to build your own you could save some money. I have a schematic for a DC-DC supply somewhere, but it isn't extremely easy and would require a PCB to be built, or lots of point to point wiring.
The other option would be to use an inverter to change from DC to AC and then use the power supply internal to the Rane to change the AC into the +/- 15V that you need. This isn't the most elegant design and there can be noise issues with the inverter. But the inverters can be bought anywhere from Radioshack to a hardware store for around 20-30 bucks for the size you would need.

If you are doing IASCA, then you can't use an inverter.
