Test relays with a resistance meter, test batteries with a battery tester.

Also if a bettery is draining then current will be flowing out of it....

your draw might be to much on the bat. do you have a high output alt? that could be the problem because if your pullin 200A out of stock electrical system that is probably going to put a strain on the alt to keep up.

Ok i have a fluke 73 how do i test resistance

here is a breakdown.
this is before equipment is in. im waiting for 2 more batteries before the equipment goes in.

i have a 100 amp alternater going to the optima with 1ga wire. it charges at 14 volts.
if i let the car sit for 2 days the battery has drained to 11.5 volts. from 12.5 the only additions that i have added are a clifford concept 40 alarm and electronic ignition. and a line lock. i have dis connected the alarm and the battery still drains. i have dis connected the stock. how can i test the individual pieces for the stock components to see which pieces could still be on? onece i put all the equipment in i dont want to have any problems.

turn off the ignition. pull off the ground wire from the car. place a 12 volt test light or a 12 volt brake light or whatever from the ground post of the battery to the removed ground wire. The bulb should barely glow if at all. The lighting or glowing of the bulb means your getting a current draw. With car off the only current draw should be only stuff like clocks, alarms and stuff. If the blub really glows bright, start disconnected equipiment till you see the bulb stop glowing.( i would start by pulling the fuses in the radio junk first). Then if needed, pull fuses one at a time, from the fuse box to see if that helps. When the glow goes away or is greatly reduced that is the cause of your problem.

Also you could just have a bad battery.

Beat me to it, my dad showed me this "trick" 18 years ago.
Word of CAUTION, avoid doing this on models 1986 and up, some cars use multi-plexing circuitry and you can fry a computer chip, or deploy airbags. Use a meter, it's safer, there are appropriate modern electronic test lights available, which are also safe

If you find that you do have something drawing power, pull ALL the cars fuses and see if your system is causing the drain. Then start replacing fuses one by one and measuring current draw from the battery until you find the culprit. I'm almost willing to bet you have a light on somewhere...

wut type of optima do u have?
i have a red top and i have this problem also
if i don't start my truck after 2 days the battery will be dead

but then the little paper that came with my red top says
newer vehicles with on-board electronics such as computers, clocks, etc. require battery power to retain system memory while the vehicle is parked

on older vehicles, without electronics, disconnect the battery cable when the vehicke is not being used for extended periods of time

i don't know how much "extended periods of time is
but like i said if i don't start my truck up on the 2nd day
my battery won't even have enuff power to turn on the dome light
so if im going out of town i always disconnted my battery
or i let my truck run for a good 20-30 mins
so i can gt a good change on my battery
i many use alot more gas that way but i don't drive my truck alot so it doesn't matter to me and plus i don't wanna kill my red top
hopefuly the info i gave is useful
peace Joakwin

once those batteries go dead (optimas) they are bad. You can recharge them, but they will not hold the charge.

ok.... i used the test light..and boy did it glow.... the garage lit up like it was a light house.... and low and behold the first fuse i pull (the alarm) the light goes out..... now where do i go to find out what is staying on? shouldnt the alarm stay on for the brain? so i would imagine a little draw constantly. point me in a direction. ask me questions on what i have done.... your help as been great. thanks

the alarm shouldn't use much. Turn on a dome light. An alarm should use much less than that. It should be a faint glow. Just with the alarm guys where it was bought and see if they can check it.
