I have noticed that the axis response of the tweets is about 1/3 of the soundstage in most vehicles. To this end, I started cooking up the idea of a small, adjustable "axis cap" (much like the thingy's on MB Quarts but move-able)
As I probably won't ever take the time to prototype any, I thought I would bring the idea on here... I think it would be a very good added tweak on top of tweeter aiming.
Whaddaya think.

Axis is the line that goes through the center of the diaphragm, agreeing with driver motion.
On axis means that the axis of the tweeter is pointed right at you.. Off axis describes how far away from your ear the axis is pointed (given in degrees)

I meant that the axis response of the tweeter influences the stage greatly, making it about (IMO) one third of the total factors making the stage.
Hehehe.. Sorry for the confusion on this one.

Seems like an interesting idea but it is probably more practical to make the whole tweeter swivel - which most companies now do

Yeah, but then the response of the tweeter doesn't change (on-axis vs. off-axis)
"I think it would be a very good tweak on TOP of tweeter aiming" because you can both aim the axis of the tweeter for off-axis response and THEN alter the axis by small amounts to further dial in the correct stage.

so what you are saying is that you have a typical tweeter that you can aim off axis and then have some thing else to redirect the off axis sound... almost like a port or tube for a tweeter.... sounds like a plan...it would make perfect sense... i think.... my mind is spinning wheels right now... i would like to talk to you more in depth about this and your theory on the advantage of this for sq.i have an idea or two on how to make it work. email me.
