i am trying to repair an old amp i have when i removed to cover there was a chunk taken out of a component sitting on top of the heat sink the number on it is a D1065 can anyone tell me what that is and where can i find one?

I've checked at www.radioshack.com they don't seem to have it. In fact the only place I found it is ADDISON ELECTRONIC in Montreal, Qc, Canada. Since it's an old amp this transistor may be discontinued so you will only find it in surplus electronic store like ADDISON.

if you are going to be soldering a transistor you HAVE to use a heatsink (ask someone at the ratshack, for soldering. they'll know). put it on the pin (componant side) then solder away. then move it to the next pin. etc.. this way it won't fry from the heat. good luck

if it's the same part number or you are sure it's electricaly equivalent it can work. www.mouser.com as two equivalent transistor(search for 2SD1065).
