I need about a 2 second delay on my remote turn on lead- I know I could go out and buy one, but I'm cheap, and want to build one myself.... anyone have an easy way to build a delay turn on?????

Isolate the power going to the remote turn on, and put a cap in parrallel with the amp's remote turn on lead, I don't know if you could get that large of a delay though. I would also think a resistor in line with the cap may be necessary to limit current flow, but that may be enough to let some go to the amp and turn it on.

A cap with a flow-limiting resistor (use a sand cast wirewound from radio shack) would probably work.. Do you have the cap equations, ron?

No, I dont have them... Will this not also give me a delay turn off while the cap dischages???????

So, we came up with-

A relay in line with the B+ terminal hooked to the deck remote AND

A deck remote hooked to the delay circuit attached to the REM terminal.

That way, the remote will switch the relay, giving you B+ and not turning the unit on until the delay circuit goes up to 12v.

BUT, when you turn it off, the remote will switch the relay, disconnecting B+, allowing the delay circuit to drain but immediately turning the unit off.

Don't forget a discharge resistor (small carbon film is fine, 1/2 watt or smaller)

This is assuming your delay should affect only a processor, ron

A little 555 timer circuit and a small relay would do the trick, it can even be made adjustable...
