I have a Rockford Fosgate Punch 225.2 and it kept blowing fuses so I decided to remove the back plate and see what was up. I found one of the mosfets on the rails had been disconnected(i.e. it had came off of the rail..I guess it got to hot and melted the solder.) So I guess this is why it was blowing fuses. So I need to know the proper way to solder it back. I have a small torch but i don't want to damage anything. What should I do.
Froze- If the leads for the transistor are still inserted through the board, simply get a 20 watt or higher iron, let it heat up until it melts solder quickly, touch the iron to each lead and push about 1/4 inch of solder
( if its 1/32 or 1/64 inch solder, if its bigger solder, use less.. You just want basically a small drop)
over the hot iron tip, right between the iron, the lead and the board. Then, take the iron away. This should give you a clean solder w/o damaging the transistor. However, if the transistor is getting THAT hot, there might be other problems!

Are you refering to the BODY of the "Mosfet" transistor coming loose from the "MESHA" pad it was soildered too?
If so we have seen this problem many times before. It is USUALLY caused by a bridged speaker load below 4ohms, in the summer heat. If this is the case you will have some power supply damage. Parts will have to be replaced. SORRY!!!
We here at TIPS would be glad to fix it.
Just let us know.

Yes, I am talking about the mosfet coming off of the rail. There is a rail running along each side of the amp with what appears to be mosfets along the rails.

im with thunder on this one, if you're melting solder then you've probally fried every output, driver, and power supply tranny along the way. and every gate/base drain/emmiter resistor as well. and who knows how many traces are fried.
