I thought these were the same. This is something I always took for granted. Now I'm writing some thermo-dynamics documentation, and I'm finding out they are not, in fact, the same. can anyone tell me, in English, what the diff is? what I've been able to figure out is that it seems conductivity is intrinsic in a substance depending on temp, and conductance depends on the dimensions.

conductance is the reciprocal of conductivity. conductivity is in ohms. lower conducts better. Conductance is the opposite, the higher, the better the consuctor
