Curiosity has gotten the best of me. What is that thing in your picture. It looks like a giant sub, is it? Please go into detail HEHEHE.

That picture is Richard Clark's massive 6 foot subwoofer.

yup...that's what it is (i asked RC if i could use it and he said no prob

anyway, MTX was supposed to help him out with it but he said that they never did.

It was housed inside a bread truck nicknamed "The Bomb" and appeared at the Db Drag World Finals back in '97/'98 or so (i have it in an article...can look it up if you want) and was rumored to do 180dB but it never did it. unfortunately the motor failed (read: calculation error) and the highest it posted was...shoot...i wanna say 170dB, but it mighta been high 160's. like i said, lemme know and i'll dig out that article, supposedly had some custom made MTX amps pushing ungodly amounts of power

That is impressive, a 6 foot woofer, I've never heard of such a thing. I am kind of curious as to what numbers it did, but if the motor failed it probably could have done much more. If the article is handy go ahead and post the #'s, but if it is even a little hassle to find the article don't worry about it.
Thanx for the reply, MMatsman420

i looked for that info in all my old issues and couldn't find it. i think i saw it in an old Carsound mag from a couple years back, prob read it while hanging out at a local shop...if i run across it i'll be sure to post it

if memory servers (this is at 1AM and not sober) i wanna say they had either 10,000 or 100,000W....can't remember how many zeros heheheh
i know it's a huge difference....i'm leaning towards 10^5W

and yes it is 100,000 wRMS... and those speaker wires going to it.. you guessed it.. 00 gauge cables...

from what ive heard, when they played it the walls of the truck flexed in and out like crazy and eventually they got bent inward and had to be kicked back out straight...

ive got a few more pictures of it if you guys wish to see them.. if i can find them..
