okay ! is bass (when recorded at a studio) Mono or Stereo ? or is this a desision left up to the recording engineer to decide ?
now for the second part of the question, when wiring up a dual vc sub (assuming the signal is Stereo) would one vc be left and the other right ?? if the Signal is mono would you feed both vc's a left or right signal ? does anybody follow me on this one ??

Always always always wire your dvc subs with a mono signal. That's why most sub amps have some kind of mono switch or button built in. I don't know about the recording itself, but always in car stereo the bass is mono.

most bass is mono as far as any music goes, simply b/c its rather difficult to get good stereo bass.
Unfortunately we do not know what subs or amp you have, so we cannot tell you the best way to wire it. There are more than one options in your situation.

if you bridge a 4 channel amp down to 2 channels, then those 2 channels are going to put out a mono signal, so it would be save to wire each VC to a channel on the amp. brige the amp, then wire one voice coil to one channel, and one to the other. (i hope the sub is a dual 4ohm. dual 2ohm would prolly fry your amp)

Bass is rarely truly stereo on a recording because few studios for popular music still use field microphones and even fewer have the ability for separation that you need for true stereo bass recording. About the only place to find real stereo bass is a live symphony recording.
If you want to run your amp that way it will be fine. Once it is up and running though spend a minute to match the gains. Play a test tone at a decent output level and use a multimeter across the speaker leads to make sure that the voltage levels are as closely matched as possible. You may be surprised how differently the gain 'knobs' get set!

cri...cali recording institute. using 3d placement tech, everything is recorded in full stereo. a generic way to get stereo bass is to utilize one 'track' for your rear left bass tone and another 'track' for the other rear right bass tone. Most recording studios have stereo recording capablitites. It just depends on how detailed the recording engineer wants to get into the production. Most of the people i have seen all choose to just get the song done and don't pay too much attention to sq. just the fact of getting it finished.
