I have a power 250.2 and it keeps shutting off on low bass notes at low volumes. It hits alot harder on higher freq bass notes before shutting off. Its not my power i am getting 13.5-14V voltage back to my amp when i am playing and it shuts off. Without the car running i can turn the volume up a little before it starts shutting off. I opened the case and did not see anything obvious. Its like my protection circuitry keeps shutting off the amp for a second or two and it comes on until the next low bass note hits.

Turn the gains all the way down and see if it happens..

Does it happen (with the gains where they are now) only when the volume is up?

If so, you are running the amp into too low a load.. Up the load and it'll fix, or change for a 250.1 if you can... This happened to me when I had two RF dvc's wired parrelel and bridged a 200x2 into that.. at high volumes it would shut off for a second or two..

But try the gains first

i have one 12" XLC bridged at 4 ohms. It stops when the gains are turned down. It shuts off at very low volumes with low bass notes.

Check to make sure none of your wiring is touching at the speaker terminals on the box and at the amp. If there's nothing wrong there you've got a bad amp. Another possibility is to check the tinsel leads on the sub and make sure they are not mushed close together. That could have something to do with the fact that it only does it on low bass notes. The movement of the cone could be moving the leads together and shutting off your amp.
