How can I make 4 15s hit mid to high 160s with 10000 watts? Is box everything? is there any secreats to making a box louder? Say Im useing Hifonics Titan 15s and 4 2200 watt amps in superstreet. any Ideas? Jason
In my experience, it appears that box is a major factor if your doing an SPL system. 10K w, and 4 15's is quite able to do mid 60's with the right install. However, to do that in SuperStreet is going to be quite a challenge. Locally, there is an old Pinto wagon (yes, yellow pinto wagon) with 3 Oz audio Power Matrix 15's, and 6 Earthquake D2's doing a 165. Now, that vehicle is in the extreme class, so that means bracing, windshield done up in 2" plexi. For you to do that same #, your going to have to do some SERIOUS work. You'll probably have to do the box a couple times. You'll have to tool around with port area, and tuning. If you dont have the proper skills, I'd take it to a local shop, or do some research on some shops in your area. Doing mid 60's takes skill, its not something your going to achieve on your first burp. But regardless good luck.

The box will have to be bigger or at least the same size of the cabin in your car. and you want your cabin area to be as small as possible, hence, a wall.

It's not the size of your woofer, It's the size of the waves your woofer makes!

Yep. No such thing as a digital Amp ( except a company name of digital ). A class D amp was just the next letter in the alphabet. Its a nice thought. But no digital amp!

well i think that the # u r after will be very hard to do if you dont have aloy of time to tweek the sub enclosure.. with spl in the excess of 160 db flexing will cause you to have problems in achieving #shigher than what you have .... what i mean the higher you hit the lower the g spot in your vehicle.. so every time you add pwr on your system you will find that the burping freq will drop a few hertz, so now you got to rearrange the tuning to suit the new peek in your vehicle, this will only happen this drastically in un sealed vehicles, but extreme vehicles will some times do this as well, but not as drastically. to get your vehicle doing these kind of #s you will need HUGE volume enclosures, and woofers that have a big piston with moderate to high xmax.a very low moving mass with a big motor... i found that woofers with 300-500 watts pwr handeling will be able to handle 4-5 times there rms output at the right tuning freq... if your setup is peeking in and around the 50 htz range you will probably need a woofer that has at least 1 inch of xmax....porting should be atleast 50%of the cone area , more than that will be better, but on some woofs to much port will cause the woof to see a free air type setup, causing the pwr handeling to dive.. the enclosure is the single most important factor in you goal, spend the time on the design and your spl will increase .. with very little pwr input... once you have this feet aquired , your on your way, PS plot every thing you do so that you can go back and review your mistakes and better your design----------sorry about the winded story but i think you can hopefully use some off the info, deffjeff

Its going to depend on a lot of factors, because mid 60's is getting up there. Either way, theres a blazer around town that does around a 164 around town with 4 dd 9515's and 8 cfa 1000 d's, so that just lets you know its easily possible. Also, a buddy of mine is running the titan 15's and they are very impressive to say the least. Now its going to hinge on you being able to build, tune, etc. an exceptional enclosure, what type of vehicle youre in, what kind of amps youre running, and what kind of electrical system modifications you plan on making. It is possible though, its just going to take time, work, and of course, money. Good luck.

This is me again Michigan Shock. Well I;m capeable of doing it. I took second place at world finlas in ss9+/
I have a ohio Gen 280 amp alt. 8 extra batteries (more to come)
And its more power higher the freq goes not lower. I started off with 8 k in power and went upto 36 thousand in power and my freq went up 4 hz. The subs take 7 cubs ported with 170 sqinc of port and have a 3 inch x max.
Were tunng the box to hit 60 hz.
we finally found out it will doit. We tested 1 15 in the van few days ago. Number I cant say. but damn! it was loud. Were useing the hifonics herculese amps.
Now we just have to tune the box for 4 subs and make sure the wave hits the dash perfect. Is it true the distance from the box to the dash is the freq you should play or tune to?
Well later. Jason
