Dude, i think that is just normal if you are really serious about car audio. My dad said the same thing to me. "WHAT!? You just put 300$ into an amp and box and wires for yer car and it seems to me that you arent satisified with what you have!?!?!?" well, i told my dad, Look, this is no different than when you go out and blow 500$ on a new motherboard, chip, hard drive and memory for your computer! Then, he realized that this was my hobby, and now he respects that. So no, you arent the only one who is never satisfied. I got my new subs in and said, ok.. sounds great, but i want something better!

Yes I beleive that is normal but to keep you outa the poor house here is a better way to look at it. You get your new subs in puttme in your car listen to them and say wow they sound pretty good but this other subs sound sooo much better. Now instead of going out and buying new subs say WAIT! if I sealed this doors, reinforced my roof, made this box alittle bigger and braced it better, or hell even built a wall! this subs would kick!

I think that the reason many of us enjoy participating in this hobby is because we are never finished. To those who don't understand that concept they are not truly hooked, to those who do, you know exactly what I mean!
I just put my 10's in not too long ago..and I already want to work on something new!!
To me it's just that you get to experiment and have fun doing it!!
My dad tells me the same things. "You just redid all that stuff!!! When is this gonna stop!!!" hahah
Never!! I'm looking to build a wall of jl 15w0's. They don't handle toooo much so maybe I can get away with my stock alt and a nice amp. I just love the excursion on jl. I wish I had some money cuz they'd be in my car within a week!!!

I've actually reached a level that I'm satsified all round for personal use. Competing with great success in DB Drag and USAC SQ+ has given me a loud and quite nice sounding ride. I'm currently at the point that improvements are only considered to improve competition scores and not to make me happy in my personal listening pleasure. Maybe that's a bad sign?

Nahh Tech, you've reached critical mass! In other words, to make YOUR system sound better, you'd have to do a complete overhaul. You've only reached the point of diminishing returns... same place I'm at. I only need work on my install also....

Oh ya, I am so dis-satisfied with my system I am constantly changing it, I am currently working on my new shell, the 57 Nomad... My parents think I am retarded for not putting a down payment on a house instead buying my current system with is now going to be replaced... I have made a new box 3 times in the past 2 months, the cost of MDF is now starting to become too much... But ohhh, does it sound sweet...

Actually PT I got a 74 Duster that is the same thing. I'm putting a 'mild mannered' stereo into it and still be able to park it at the movies I do have plans for a new SPL car... Wayne kinda shot my plans for the homebrew amp (I'll build it anyway). And the 2 woof class has intrigued me ;~) I got a couple of 1000 watt Autotek's that would do a decent job (overloaded) on 2 subs. Muwhahahahhha

I was thinking about a wall of 15s or 12s behind the back seat, kinda the good thing about haveing a "wagon" As soon as I get the drive train right I am going to start on the sound... I know its going have at least 2 1100a2's and a supercharged 350 small block... The target for the system is 150db and the motor is 450hp... Nyuk, nyuk... Nobodys going to steal my mojo baby yeah!!!

Actually I'm considering purchase of a old (civic or omni or vw or festiva or whatever) for a few hundred and making this the 2 woofer car. It is small and would take a smaller trailer to pull. The Dartster already has a hitch. Again, this is just an idea i'm kicking around. By the way, I'm not doing SQ after this season. Next year I'm doing DB Drag more seriously. I'm not competing at DB Drag finals this year either. I'll probably just go and watch. Then build seriously for next year.

Whats weird is that every year the scores go up by atleast 3 db ( I suppose in each class) due to new technologies, techniques, and materials...
If you don't compete, its almost like you've been in a coma, woke up 10 years later and don't know what to do.
(Sorry for the bad analogies-)
