i was at Lube stop getting my oil changed the other day and one of the workers there noticed tha huge water hose I had connected to my battery when he was looking under my hood. He asked If I had some heat and I said yea. He said he had some too so we decided to have a sound off right there in the lube stop garage. He pulled up his green Monte Carlo and we bot cranked our radios. all the other lube stop workers just watched. Bass wise I had him beat, but as far as highs, they almost drowned my bass out! I looked in his car and he had a pair of 6x9's and 4x6's in each door! All I had were a pair of 4" in my dash. This made me think, I need to upgrade the high end of my system too! but by how much? I was thinking about a 4" and a 4x6" in each door along with the 4" coaxials in my dash. I just want my car to be loud, I don't really care that much about sound quality right now. Is there a such thing as too much treble? Ill be having atleast 2000watts powering my low end, how much power do I need to power my high end?

Forget the 4 and 4X6 in your door. Get some high power (able to handle around 100 Watts) 6.5s and put them in the kick panels. Give them their rated power and they will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. Try Quarts, Boston, RF Q's, etc. to give your bass some treble to keep it company.

I'll second what Shedluv wrote... Don't bother with anything that's not round (excepting horns), and don't bother with anthing smaller than 6.5" unless you have 5.25 stock holes (which I did in my previous car and took a grinder to so I could fit 6.5" Quarts...). Kick panels are a great way to go if you like messing with fiberglass (it can be more fun than you might think).

If you can use two component sets up front. A 5.25 set, because it has better midrange response than the 6.5's and a 6.5 component set because of it's midbass response. Plus the 4 tweeters will give plenty of high end.

Hell yeah, that is what I currently have right now in my truck. I have a Boston Acoustics Rally 5 1/4" comp set in the kick panels and a 6 1/2" comp set in the doors. Each speaker is getting 70wRMS each and it is plenty of higs for me!!
