Right now I have one 12 inch rockford rfp2412 (pre XLC) 12 inch sub in a bandpass box that Dukk gave me the specs for about 3 monts ago. The system sounds nice but it's not exactly to my taste anymore. My question is, if I was to shorten the length of the ports, could I change the response. I would prefer to have a little more punch (around 60 or 70 Hz) rather than boom. Could I achieve that chest pounding bass that slaps you in the face with such a simple modification. I'd rather not have to redesign the entire box (carpet, plexi, and alot of paint) if it's possible.

It is possible to due so, yes. Will this possibly make the whole box unworkable? Maybe. If it REALLY isn't to your listening tastes, shorten the port(s), see if you like it, then you could always just build a new box if it screws up
