My question is what is the best way to add a secod battery just for system power (not for power when the car is off). Should I isolate it or just run it parallel off of my primary battery. I plan to use the the first battery to run the car and the second just for amps.

Thanx for your help, CC

well there is multiple ways to attack your situation. option 1......go ahead and just hook them up in parallel. if you choose this you should make sure the batteries are as close to the same as possible(make, model, manufactured date). you could end up with chargeing problems. this option you don't really have a seperate battery for the system. you just double your reserve time so you can play it longer. option 2......an isolator. this actually charges each battery and isolates them seperatly. option 3......use of relays so they only charge when the car is running but disconnect from the front when the key is off. both option 2 and 3 will create a voltage loss though. so you are actually creating more of a load when these devices are used. option one is the most used. so there is many choices. good luck on your pick.
