Ok, I have been haveing problem's with the spl output of my American bass VFL extream 15's x2.
I'm starting to wonder if it's my sub's or car.
--------All box's 1 inch MDF------------
Ok,my first box was 9.3 CF after all displacment. sub's up port's up. started with 2 4 inch port and tuned to peak spl out put.....Same box, added 2 more port's retuned for peak spl....same box added 2 more port's tuned for peak spl.
Adding the 3rd and 4th port yealded 1.1 DB gain and moved peak freq up to 55 HZ(car's freq is 55 hz,got lucky) adding the 5th and 6th port yeilded nothing.
Same box now repostioned,sub's and port's faceing back.
All port's execpt 2 were pluged,retested same as before adding 2 port's and tuneing. This time 5th and 6th port did improve spl to same out put as first sub and port combo.

Crx style sub's foward port's back. Box is now 6.7 CF after displacment.
LOST .2 DB's over first box design. This time I left room to add even more port's. Box now sit's at 8 port's.
I have swept and reswept tuned and retuned,have had 15 diffrent people listen,last 5 refusued to sit in car as it heart there ear's and caused them to feel "funny" . My last setup was 12's for a total of 1.6 DB more than I have rigth now.
Any input would be helpful. I am waiting for one of my budie's to remove his box,were going to retest my sub's and box's in his car(1991 CRX SI) and run the wire's out of my car as mine has 8 run's of 0/2 wire and 5 battries.I'm also going to try swaping out my amp's for some diffrent one's as well as try a diffrent HU.
Any one ever run into a problem like this ??

Every sub likes a different box, and the box it likes will be partially dependent on the environment it is in. Everything must truly work together for good numbers. Its hard to get everything syncronized but when you do you will know it!
