It all depends on how the mics are set. The one I used in the past was 3db higher than the TL meters.

In my experience the "classic tl" was about 5dB nicer than than the current TL.
Some people experienced as much as an 8dB loss going to the new TL. So it's more install, vehicle, and mic related as a whole. the nice thing is that the new TL are rock solid consistant.

I remember one show I went too, there were two mics set up and one mic was 1.5 higher than the other. This was a DB Drag show about 2 years ago.
