I second the Xenium ICE. I have one and it's so easy to use. A modded Xbox is the best console. I have a lot of the old school emulators (NES, SNES, Genesis, GBA, N64, MAME, etc). Everyone I about craps their pants when they see Mario or Sonic being played on an Xbox! If you get a modded Xbox get Xbox Media Center, it's awsome! If you have a router you can stream videos/music/pictures from your computer. Also it's good to upgrade the hard drive. I have a 80gig and wish I would've went with a 160gig.

As for the xbox thing, you have those cupholders right and the airbag where you are thinking of installing them is behind those right? Personally I would just stick all the xbox crap in the glovebox.
The spot below the radio where the single CD slot normally is fits the drive perfectly as well if you wanna try that.
I know your troubles though, there is like no extra room whatsoever in those dashes.
I prefer Xenium ICE and the X-Chip

ok well ill go with the ice chip then... 160gig same cdrom tho. put it into my middle console with a 3ft cord BUT it may be less ill know once i get the modded xbox sometime next month. i should be able to use less tho. id say 2ft tops what id need with the console instal.... guess my passenger side air bag dash wont be as cool as i wanted it to be looks like ill just buy a new one already modded with the ice chip.... that way i know its right! then ill just have to take it apart and change up the controler porte MAYBE or i might just plug in the extension wires and mold them into the console..... guess ill sell my spindles since i know they will be sold same day i list em.LOL that way i can buy this xbox ASAP and start... then ill just have to get the fold down screen next month Posts: 4858 | From: indiana | Registered: Apr 2003

A lot cheaper if you do it yourself. New Xbox $149.99 Mod-chip $50-60 160GB HD $70
Took me about 2 mins to mod my xbox and ~10mins to install the new bios, dash, software.
There is a software mod for Evo-X dash that increases your fan speed. Or the mod for the fan is a little jumper but it doesn't matter Xbox's don't get that hot.
EDIT: From the website you linked

So no they don't do the programming you need

I love the X-BIT mod chip. It is a non solder and very very easy to upgrade the bios on it. Considering you connect it using via USB port to your computer to update the bios. Updating bios gets important, cause as the newer games come out you need different bios's and stuff.
I personally have 160gb HDD with an old Executer mod chip. Does wonders. I used to rip the games right on my HDD, but instead i buy the games for $5 each now. I would rather buy the games for $5 each that way if HDD ever crashes you dont lose all of the games.

I have worked with the X-BIT and I do not like them...The upgrade software freezes a lot in WinXP. You have to mess with switches to switch between the BIOS.
You do not have to do that with the Xenium ICE and you can update the BIOS with CDRW or USB storage devices. And no external wires like the X-BIT unless you hook up the optional LED's.
For backing up games all you need is a DVD-RW on a PC and 10cents per DVD to backup
Much better than $5
EDIT: Not to mention the X-BIT erasing BIOS's magically all by itself
I also like the X-Chip but that is also USB to PC...I prefer pen drive updates

It is not hard to install the bios at all, espcially with the X-BIT i mentioned above. The hardest part is to find someone to share the bios with you. You can try and do google searches and what not, but you wont find it. A lot of the Bios's are in tunnel's. Damn i just recently deleted all my bios's and programs and what not for me xbox off of my computer. I might be able to get all new stuff, if someone is interested.

If you know how to use IRC and an FTP client I can help you "find" programs and BIOS's

In the future you will be able to use USB Mass storage devices but it is USB 1.1 and...Well you would lose about %75 performance if you went with USB HD instead of the standard IDE HD.
All you do is get a new HD...Plug it in...Install a BIOS, Dashboard and you are set.
EDIT: If you end up doing it yourself I can give you links to tutorials on how to mod your Xbox

they type that USB i was talken about would still use the IDE harddrive by using a case or whatever that uses the USB cable... would that still slow it down?
or would the speed be ok with that type?
tho ive been thinking quite some time lately and i realy thing the middle console idea would be the best and easiest to do since i could have everything put together inside my house instead of in the garage under the dash.LOL
ive read quite a few turiols last year about modding one but never actualy did it because all the games i play i play LIVE. thats my social life most my friends are a state away.LOL OR in canada.LOL but this xbox will be going into the truck. and well LIVE wont matter much.LOL it will mainly be for single/ 2player...

Yeah I know what you mean...Yes you would be losing performance. USB 1.1 speed is roughly 12Mb/sec (around 2.5 MB/sec) and Xbox HD is about 66MB/second...Pretty huge performance drop if you ask me.

I'm never had to update my bios. I use a Xecuter2 4981.67 bios and have had no problems booting any game. I've played over 60 games and not one has ever given me a problem. You might need a hard drive patch for some games to be able to play them on the hard drive.

Why would it matter if it is a refurb or not?
