My comps are too bright although I have them set to the lowest db on the passive crossover. So I was turning down the high frequencies (3.2K - 10K) on my EQ. When I turned down the high freq, my comps started to distort & crackle. Anyone know what gives?

Also, I was lowering high pass frequencies on my xover and I got the crackling too. Can this affect the sensitivity of picking up distortions in the music?

This is when playing MP3's, Store bought music does not seem to have this problem.
