in my cousin's car....his equalizer makes a big difference. thats what i'll be getting next. as soon as i figure out what i'm doing with my amp situation.
didn't see that you didn't have a hu. i think i'd go with that first. and get your subs in the right size box.

for SPL a head unit should realy help (if your using your stock H/U with a Line converter) because you can change the setings on the RCA out puts. If you already have a H/U then i would go with a line driver. that should help out a little. As far as bass response Better RCA cable, Better Head Unit, better amp, Better subs. (if sealed box) Smaller box. dont know how you tighten up a ported box.

that is if you want bettter control over your stuff. And you should be able to get a higher SPL with Fine Tuning your system. if you just want Bass with no control and realy no way to change the setings with out going back to teh amp then just put on a line driver. The CD Player will also (depending on how nice) give you a faster & better responce if you have some nice RCA also. I would replace the RCA with comp RCA, get a aftermarekt Head unit, Equalizer (quality), then a line driver.

those are gimicks, big and thick with pretty colors, oooh
actually any rca cable will do just fine, the only problems you would have is having noise enter the line, but if you do a decent install you wont have that problem
to get the most spl, the is very dependent on your vehicle, sub enclosure and tuning, preping the vehicle for SPL, sound deadning among many others
as long as your amps are getting 4v you should be just fine there as well
you want your amps to be able to function at max power, so using the proper wire size and a good ground along with a charging system that can handle it is essential (note this might include a ho alternator, batteries, etc)

The Big Huge stuff that is like 150 bucks for the RCA is. But if you went out and got the Dollar tree RCA It might help little on response to get something with a little less resistance. (spend the 40 bucks and get A/V audio cable) The RCA wont help with SPL but will help with response. It’s a vary small change but you can notice a little difference. That’s at least what I have noticed. I was using some jacked up Radio Shack RCA that was like 4 years old, it was so small! And then when I actually wanted to do something with my system I went out and got the RCA from speakerhole.com it was likr 20 bucks or something. And It sounds a lot better.
Just my 2 cents!
