ok 1st my cd player would stay on when the car is off. and this is just hooked to the harness. so i took apart the 2 red wires (ignition) and connected them with one of the yellow wires (battery memory, the one from the car and not from the hu) this made it so the cd player would shut off when i shut the car off but when i started the car i had to turn it back on. then all of the sudden the cd player wouldnt come on at all hooked up like this so i put it back to red-red and yel-yel. it still didnt work! so now for me to be able to turn on the cd player i have to have both red wires twisted up with both yellow wires for a temporary fix. can anyone explain this?

my other problem: my cap wouldnt turn off. i thought it was because i had it hooked in with the red ignition wires at first. so i un hooked it from there. the cap still stayed on. (note my amp was not on) so i unhooked the power wire from the battery. the cap still stayed on! basically the cap would stay on as long as i had the + hooked to the + on the amp and the remote wire hooked to the amp, and the amp grounded. (note i even unhooked the ground wire from the cap) nothing else connected just those 3 wires.....wtf is up with that? i think im gonna junk the cap. btw im still having problems with my sub and amp but that post can wait till tomorrow.

first you need to make sure that your Batt+ is connected to the batt+ on the cd player harness and then that both ACC's are connected!!!

second, i am guessing it is a digital cap, I know that the memphis caps have no remote turn on, so they come on when the voltage hits a certain point and when it lowers to a certain point!!! wait a while and see if the cap shuts off. Also, is there a remote wire hookup for the cap???? if so, where do you have that wired???

ya the cap must be digital. and if it doesnt have the remote turn on then just give it time to shut down. takes about a min or two. and with the head unit. hook it up like its suposed too.also i would run a new ground. ive always ran new grounds everytime. and use a light tester to make sure the wires have power when thier suposed to be.and if you cannt find the proper wires back thier. run them from the fuse box.

sorry man its been a while since i did anything to a car. what colors are the batt+ and the acc's?

the cap is a lightning audio 1 farad. i believe it is digital. its the one with the meter on top. but it didnt shut off while i was at work for 8 hours.

yes there is a remote wire on the cap. i have no idea where to hook it. first i had it connected to the power antenna wire but it wouldnt turn on then. so i switched it and hooked it into the red ignition wire. and then it wouldnt shut off. but note that i said it wouldnt turn off while it was just hooked to the amp and nothing else! the cap wasnt even grounded.....just the amp. and the amp was not hooked to anything either. just connected to the cap by the remote wire and power wire.

oh and i tried hooking the hu back up the way it was supposed to be. it wont turn on that way now. i dont understand it because i just had it hooked that way a half hour beforehand.

can someone tell me why it doesnt go off when i shut the car off? and when i turn it back on i want it to pick right back up where the cd left off in mid song. it did this in my old car. god.....im so frustrated right now.
