Ok thats her back before January when I removed the wall. I do all my own work but still got to be too much money. I would do mid 150's with two amps and could not fit the batteries to run all 6 happily and decided to get out of the hobby for a while. Right now shes back to a daily driver with seats, aka normal car with a trio of my old favorite subs JL 10W3's sealed firing straight backwards doin mid 140's of my old D200HC. Boy I miss my Digitals especially now with the warmer weather. Well anyways on to the story - back a few years ago I did a pair of JL 15 W6's (the real W6's, old ones not new funky things) sealed with 1.5 cubes each shared firing straight up in my trunk. I powered them with a single MMATS D200HC (1200 WRMS @ 1ohm...voltage given more like 1400-1700) BUT due to W6's being dual 6 ohm coild I could only give her a 1.5 ohm load. So if you think about it at best I wouldnt doubt was probabaly making 1,200 WRMS give or take some no? The way the subs were there was a perfect reflection going on, I was able to get 147.8 out of that setup on a Freshly Calibrated Audio Control, with seats down of course (in trunk setups i wont even play subs with seats up lol). 147.8 i feel is pretty damn good for sealed 15's firing straight up no? those woofers seriously would take a beating though I could practically bottom them out and only ran it for burps really. Now what I am thinking is redo that setup and throw on a few hundred watts extra, possibly with JL 15 W3 V2's . I know there are better, just look at what I built before but now I want to have fun. I think an old school style setup, pair of sealed trunk woofers just breaking 150 with a single battery and single large amp (Zap 9.0???) and none of this "new trunk-as-box setup" i am seeing and a million amps. I think that would be cool as hell especially sealed. I think all I need is watts to grab me higher numbers what do ya think?

why not try to break 150 with your 10s... i know someone that did 146 in a celica with 2 sealed 12w3s on an mmats (don't know what model he had) stock alt and probably not a good battery.. i would say.. just because you already have them.. but you would definitely have to go ported with them...
ok.. enough rambling.. i think you should try the 15w3s... maybe try sealing them from the trunk and giving them 1000 watts each.. you would need to double your power in theory to gain that extra 3 dbs... can they handle 1000 a piece? i don't know.. there is only one way to find out..

That's really good #'s your doing with the W6's. I think you can do it with no problem. I used to run 2 Kicker Solobaric 15d's(rounds) and a PPI PC 2350 doin 148.8-151.4 out of a trunk. I had them in 1.5 sealed ea. divided chamber firing back towards the trunk. That was 2 years ago and haven't done drag since then due to lack of shows around here. I think it'll be cool if you can pull it off without doin the trunk as box setup your talkin about. There's always less pressure on you when your in it for the fun of it. Good luck to you and keep us posted with your result. Posts: 174 | From: Midwest | Registered: Feb 2001
