I went to Tweeter to hear some 6.5 speakers for my rear fill. I noticed that almost all the coax sound the same, just that some are a little brighter.. but the bass & midbass are almost all the same from JL to Alpine, kenwood, eclipse, boston, etc... EXCEPT these pioneers with a yellow cone. They sounded terrible!! they were so distorted & sounded like they were farting the entire time... all settings being the same as the other speakers.. do Pioneer coax or comps suck??

that being said, why spend 100 for rear fill coax, when they all sound alike? I rather spend $40 for similar sound...

I agree coax speakers all really sound the same, especially off the deck. Even a 50 x 2 amp to power them and they all sound just a little brighter or harsher. Infinity referance for anything not upfront in my opinion. Cheap and undistorted sound. Then as large as you can go for the front stage.

hmm,

must have been a crap install because the pioneer rev series sound pretty damn good in my opinion.

Notice that he said he heard the speakers at Tweeters. That means that the speakers were display models...where everyone and anyone can abuse, torture, and distroy the components used in the display.
