A crossover is used to send a certain bandwidth
to a certain driver, IE a sub is lowpassed from
70 down, and a set of components will be
bandpassed at 70-2500, and the tweeter will be
highpassed at 2500.

A linedriver is used to increase output voltage
of the source, so that you can keep the gains on
your amps down and get better sq.

if the H/U you are using only has one set of RCA's, how do you connect it to a Crossover? Y-adapters, or is only one input actually required? Are line drivers usually expensive?

you don't gain sound quality with the gains down. output is going to be the same with the gains set correctly in both cases. what will change is the floor noise. with the gains up high, there are more chances of noise inducing into the system. but i'm sure you know this already [Wink]

heh. Yeah I know, but to me unwanted noise is

a loss in sq. Really annoying........
