I had my system (10" Comp and Impulse IX402) in my friends Integra- the same one who's system got stolen 2 weeks ago. Well, he got a security system a few days ago, so I'm not worried about my stuff getting stolen. Got a call today, and he totaled his car. He's fine, but my sub and amp were thrown out of the car. He found the amp under a tree, with a few scratches on it, and he said under the backplate everything looked tight, so it might still work. The sub-well, it too was thrown out of the car, and I have no idea what shape it's in. I should get it all back by monday, but something tells me it's not going to work.

So for replacing the sub. Do I get another 10" Comp, a S10D (round Solobaric), or a 10L7. The Comp will be like 80 bucks at most, and If my amp dosn't work I'm getting a KX120.1. If I get the S10D (for 150 at a shop) or L7 (300 at a shop), I'll use my brothers Soundstream Reference amp he's going to give me. Sooo, what do you guys think?

I'll second that, why such a small amp? Here's what I would do. Ditch the kicker stuff, make him pay for it!!!! Buy a JBL BP1200.1 amp from bsless.com for 270 shipped..

then get a nice set of subs, or a single beefy sub... run em in a ported box.. you'll love it [Wink]

let me know your budget, i can design you something that will maximize your cash...

Well, let me just say I got the amp back tonight and I am pissed. What was "a few scratches", turned out to be 'landed on the raod and scratched the hell out of the metal/broke the plastic". I took the backplate off, and everything looks tight, so I'm going to toss it in my friends truck and see if it still works. Worst yet, is my $26 plastic end-caps are nowhere to be found.

My budget right now is pretty much nothing. I bought that sub and amp (which really blew me away considering) brand new for $125. I'll probably end up getting another 10" Comp, this time from the local store. If not, I'll get the S10D and use the Soundstream (which is a wicked amp) for a while.

The reason I'm staying with Kicker, is becasue of the tremendous success I've had with them. Absolutly no problems, incredible performance, and reasonable prices. Plus, for the money I'm spending, there's nothing else I can buy that will stack up. If you can help for let's say, 70 bucks, by all means, please. But the Soundstream is in my hands, so thats an option. Man this chaps my ---!

Good lord Vega, isn't that supposed to be a wicked sub?!? [Eek!] I'll e-mail you for some more info, about it. Only problem is I've got a single cab truck, so mounting might be tough. As of now, i'm waiting on Kicker for repair estimates, so maybe I'll just have it fixed. We'll see...

Well, my I squeezed an SS 15 behind the seat of my brothers standard cab F150, so with a little imagination, you can make it work

I got the sub back today. I was worried about the basket getting bent, but surprisingly it wasn't. Instead, the rubber gasket was destroyed, and the foam surround was cut a little bit. Bad thing is though, the VC has come un-wound a little, so it'll scratch the magnet sometimes, and distorts a little. I'm going to put it in a ported box and just give it hell, so we'll see how bad of a sub Kicker makes. So far, I've got a sub and an amp, that have survived from being thrown out of a car. That's one reason I'm a Kicker fan.
