Do they make a dash kit for a taurus with the electronic controls under the radio. The brain of the radio is in the trunk. I argued with a guy at the shop I work at today that I thought i saw somebody on here say they did and he was saying they didnt. So what is it ?

What year? We have the Metra kets that have the A/C controls built in for the Taurus...maybe it's a 99-5616 and the harness is a 70-5615...

Metra makes the kit that will work in the car. Using the harness that winslow mentioned, you'll have to run wires and an antenna to the trunk. Other than that, it's not too bad of an install.

If it is the "football" radio and has the heater controls built in, expect to pay about $90 for the dash kit...and I think the harness is $30-40 too.

Youre exactly right Winslow, thats what it is. A Taurus came in and he kept telling me they didnt make a dash kit for the ones with the electronic heater controls and I told him they did. Now I will have to bet him some money on it and then take a picture of it to work ahaha.

this was straight from metra themselves.

Hmm...maybe that was the regular controls and not the electronic ones. I've never done a deck i one of those- once we tell people how much it is going to cost, they change their minds about getting a $100 CD player put in it.

I was also told a kit is not made for the electronic controls. We do sell the regular Metra dash kit for the twisty controls for $59.99 with the wire extension harness included. The only thing not included is on the occasional cases when you might need the old-to-new defroster plug adapter.
