Make sure you get 3-way (atleast) stretch vinyl, have a heat gun, and some good glue like landeau top glue. Heat the viynl to stretch it, and staple the edges to the piece.

Also, be careful spraying the glue and make sure the surface is good and clean or the vinyl will show all imperfections.

The result from vinyl looks great. A buddy of mien was showing me how to use it for the first time the other day, and when we were done th epieces he did looked very good. It wasn't that hard with a heat gun, once warm it stretched really nice.

I've done a bit of vinyling, I used actual vinyl from stinger. I just used the same spray contact cement that I use for carpet, and then stretched it to where I wanted it and stapled the edges. Didn't even need a heat gun. The final result was awsome. I've also tried using some vinyl just from a car apulstering shop, and it worked just aswell although it was thicker and I didn't like the design on the leather as much.
