That's the question I'm asking.
FatMat eXtreme for $1.10 looks the best so far
Dynamat® Xtreme is $5.42 /sq ft from b-quiet. Too much $$$!

They are all great products and have taken the market away from dynamat IMO. But Mastic from mcmaster is the better value because the other companies only offer better value for their product when you buy 50+sq.ft. What about the people who only need 20-40sq.ft at a time(onlyy enough for the trunk). I would take either product anyday, but I never would use the amounts that they sell.
ANyways, FATMAT gives away free samples and you dont even have to pay for a thing. Email them about a free sample and they will send you one. My free sample is on the way!

I find it funny that me and my friends purposely take out all the factory sound dampening material sometimes, when we want to take out any extra weight.
I need to get some deadener for my next project though. What's the general consensus for the best?

I'm a loyal brown bread user. It may cost more, but it's oh so easy to use, and it works really damn good.

T he Polymeric Mastic is the tickest, but does thickest mean the best. I hear alot of good stuff about RAAMmat, what do you look for in these products?

What makes a good sound deadener? Do the properties of the material matter or just the weight? Also, I know that price, ease if application, and good adhesive are things to look for. Can anyone add to that list?

Great stuff for that price, not quite as good of adhesive as I would prefer, but great sound dampening, if you are not going to take out your headliner, I think this stuff is as good as any, and cheaper too.

Any good reason to get any other dampener than Polymeric Mastic?
I think that's what I'll get! Thanks.

HI guys my name is Chris, I am with FatMat Sound Deadener. I see you all have some questions about our product and I just wanted to clear as much up as possible for you. First off FatMat is 45mils thick and weights in at 32lbs. If you visit our website you will find a variety of sizes available to suit your install needs. I did one of my Talons a while back and removed everything possible from front to back, it took 150sq ft to double it up. X2 fatmat=3X's the effectiveness as with most any other deadener on the market, so if your seriously wanting to deaden your vehicle you need to double it up. I am not trying to sell our product here on the message boards what so ever, and I will not ever try to do that, however I would like to provide Car Audio Enthusiast as much information as I can about Sound Deadeners as well as FatMat. A few of the things that I think alot of you will appreciate about fatmat is the fact that it is a very effective yet lightweight product. It also is very, very sticky, you won't need a hair dryer for the install, a roller will do you some justice though. If your gonna do your car right you mid as well figure on 150 sq ft and at least 12-18 hours of time, give or take a few hours depending on if you ate your wheaties that morning... Will it make a difference. Simple and true, you betcha it will. And you will not only notice that your vibration is gone, your stereo is going to sound better than ever. But all in all sound deadeners are alot alike, you should just invest more of your time on doing the job right! That's what's going to make the best difference for you. Look for a great value, a good company that you can trust, and a product that a company is willing to stand behind. Thanks for the great post guys. Please remember that I am not here to duke it out with other companies or to argue with anyone about sound deadening. I will back down in a second. If anyone has any question please feel free to ask. Thanks Chris
