this box will be for 2 DD 3512's. I want a sweet looking box that will impress people but i have no idea on what to make. I have no experiance in fiberglassing so i dont think i could pull off doing a false floor. Any ideas on what to make that would look real sweet. I really need ideas because i want the nicest looking stereo setup in school.

THis will be in a 94+ mustang.

Thanks alot,
Steve

If NJ people want to help me out with fiberglassing ill take you out to lunch or something. or maybe soem money will be in it for you. I jsut dont trust myself doing it alone.

Go to a place that deals in fiberglass, I bet they will have a bunch of literature on how to do it. Then check a book out of the library on fiberglassing. It is not that difficult.

Try fiberglassing the tire well by using a wodden frame then use a wood top for the box. To get the false floor look... make a cover plate to cover everything and cut out hole which you can see the amps through... cover the holes with some plexi. Then carpet the cover plate.

Its simple and its what I did by myself for my first fiberglass install. Take your time and make sure the box has the right airspace.

Or try a wood box that has a face that comes down from the top of the back-seats at an angle, then carpet it the same color as the rest of the trunk.
Good luck... Dave.

get about a gallon of fiber resin, some type of cloth (like felt) to use for matting (matting sucks cept for patching), some BONDO!! and some sandpaper. sand the fiber glass pretty good but dont sand it hot so it ruins the fiberglass. bondo over whats left and sand that with like 600 grit to get smooth surface and either paint it yourself and risk streaks and drips or have someone do it for ya that can paint well. the trick to fiberglassin is sanding, prepping, handling. bondo makes it easy for anyone to do!
good luck

If you are interested I can help you out youd have to come to my shop for the help though. I like to try new things so maybe we can come up with some ideas and make them work.

Yea man that sounds good if u give me a hand. Are you gonna charge me or what? Cause i can build the plexi box in my woodtech class but if u want to help me and you have the tools id rather do it with you instead of school. I just dont know what i shoudl do. People are telling me that plexi sounds bad so im not sure yet.

Is it true that plexi doesnt sound good??
