Hey guys, I have to build a box for an 04 Ford Taurus. Only problem is that I don't have the car here, and its a surprise, so I can't ask him to measure the trunk for me. If anyone here has one at home and can measure the trunk for me, it would be much appreciated. Box, won't be huge, something around 3 cubes. I need the size of the trunk up near the rear of the back seat. Max width, max height, and approximate depth to be even with the trunk opening. Include all square dimensions, so if the box was flat and square on all sides it would fit. I'm not concerned about hugging the sides. Also if you could give me the dimensions of the pass through area into the cab where the seat folds down, that would be nice too. Thanks.

That is a gen 4.5. My gf has a 2000, which is a gen 4. I am going out in the cold and snow once again to finally complete her system install. I will get some measurements. Anyone wanna come over and hold the flashlight for me?

That's pretty straightforward. Ideally you would want the box no wider than 39.5". Height is an odd issue. The trunk is pretty tall until you get towards the front of the car. This car has this ghetto trim piece that covers the trunk lid springs and the speakers. Past that horizontal gray line is the deepest I would go if your box is 17" or a bit shorter. Should you want to push the box as far back as possible and get it under that trim piece the box cannot be more than 12.5-13" tall.

You can easily remove that trim piece, but I do not think it will help much with pushing the box further if it is 13" or taller. I dropped in a box that was 38" wide, 13.5" tall, and 13.5" deep. I was going to put it in there sideways with the woofer/port firing sideways. It would not fit as the box was just a bit too tall.

Good luck!

Thank you very much. I really appreciate this. I assume this is a top view, just wanted to make sure I'm reading it right.

Nah it's a 4th-dimensional view [Big Grin]

I was gonna take a pic of it. Then I put the box in and it didn't fit due to that damned trim panel. I got the box on a huge angle taking up a ton of the trunk space. The box kinda blocks the view of the trunk [Frown]

Girlfriend is going out of town for a few weeks. I will need some company. I'll make a road trip to Philly and steal your garage!
