Pioneer 7700mp 2 Powerbass 3000's 2 workaholic 8d batts 2 Audio Que HD 12''s
My problem is, whenever i turn on the amps, they just give out a straight "burp"
I have my power and ground, running straight from the front batt, to the back ones, with 1 1/0 run for each. While dropping a g31 under the hood the other day i noticed my crimp on the ground was pretty loose. Up untill now, i thought the problem was with the cd player, but i just put in a brand new one, and its still doing the same thing.
I gotta find a way to crimp it (i left my cripmer at slap finals so im sol) or find a decent ground in the back of the truck (i have yet to find anything that would be remotley good for a ground back there)
But does anyone think it is possible for that loose ground up front to be causing my problem, or should i look other places to try to solve the problem?

Sounds like maybe you are sending them a straight DC signal. Does your subs do that when the amp turn on lead is disconnected from the amplifier?

The amp doesnt turn on if there is no turn on lead connected to it, and it also doesnt happen, when the amps are turned on, but no rca's hooked up

if its staying playing that note with no rcas then i say something internal on the amp went POOF maybe the bad ground contributed to the cause of the problem with the amp going bad. but its definatly not good!
next time ya do the conection id say solder it. that way you know its a great conection ya wont have to worry about! i soldered my I/0welding cables when i did my big 3 grounds and they still all realy tight. i crimped the first conection and it came right out after alittle tugging. but i did just hammer the crap outta the terminal.LOL i thought that would been fine tho but after it came out i just spent about another 30min soldering all the cables. which i think was well worth the extra time put into them.

The amps can be on, but no rca's, and the subs arent doing a thing. If i plug in rca's, it goes crazy
Hey 97 Cavy, sounds like you have a bad rca ground .I do electronics repair work,so try this, while you have everything on,take a piece of wire, connect one end of it to a good ground, then take the other end and very carefully without touching anything else, touch the ground of your rca's,on the input of your amp.If that stops the noise, which I know it will, then either you have bad rca's,or an open ground circuit in your deck.

That's true too Winslow, very possible, but usually the grounds,in your deck will go before your amp, because you have more surface area of copper in the pc board of your amp.

Well, we used to have problems with the older MTX amps breaking the grounds on the inputs...and basically any amp that has board mounted inputs (rather than chassis mount connectors) can be at risk for breaking the ground trace.
I know I had a few go bad on my Brax amps from putting some tight fitting RCAs on them...thank god I still have a friend at the repair center of the company I used to install for (Freemans Car Stereo), and he fixed them for me after work oneday .
Elizabeth City, eh? My dad's family is in Edenton and Hertford...need to go back and get some of that good BBQ out there. People out here don't know good BBQ or what a pig-picking is.

Im guessing the problem is either the RCA's or the amp. The deck was brand new, out of the box, and still did the same thing as it did with the old one. I guess i will have to get some new RCA's and if that doesnt work, get the amps checked out

well you got a friend thats got a system? if so run some jumper rcas from his cars deck to your amp... that will be a quick test if its not the amp.
or just dangle some rcas thru the car and test it out realy quick. hopefully its just a cheap replacement at least.

You mentioned Truck but didn't say which kind. I have had a problem with my Nissan Hardbody along time ago. Aparently Nissan only grounds the bed to the frame with a 14 gauge braded cable. Well lets just say that cost me a deck and changer. System used the changer that was mounted to the bed that was connected to the radio which was grounded and well lets just say no more music from those components. I did remedy the problem with multiple runs of 1/0.
