I think when most people say low low bass, it's centered around 30-40 hertz...20-30 has no sensation on the body.

That "tight" hitting bass is 40-60 hertz range.

X2

Go play a 20hz test tone and see how loud it is, then play a 35hz test tone. Most low bass isnt any lower than 35hz.

Um...yea, right...You must not have ever been in that huge bass room trialer thing that was at SBN or other big audio events. It played 11-20 htz tones and you can walk inside it (it's like a big speaker box) it makes you feel like you can't breath...yet you can't even hear anything, and your ears feel like they're gonna burst!

No, wasn't there.

But I was at IASCA/dB Drag Finals in 1997 and MMATS was there with a room that was tuned to 11 hertz. Something like 16 or 25 15s inside the room, the door was the port.

My car is prettly flat from 16-48 hertz, within 1 dB variation, and for my SPL testing I "burp" at either 25 or 28 hertz. High 130s with my SQ settings isn't too bad for being that low...

And my old shop just did an Explorer with 8 12W7s, it was tuned low like 26 hertz, and peaked at a 151.8 dB at 38 hertz. It wasn't "hard" or "tight" bass.

But dude, I've been around this game longer than you have...and just b/c I do SQ doesn't mean I don't know what bass is or how it feels.

I like teeth rattling, and chest pounding.
My friend had 2 15"s pr's in his probe, thsoe thing played stupid low. You couldn't even shut your mouth, because it made them rattle so much that you would think that your going to chip them.
But my other friend has the chest pounding bass.
and I love the feeling of both. So I'm not sure.
I would probably have to go with the chest pounding.

Pipos truck does both, it will play down in the 20's, and still play the higher freq's to knock the hell out of you! The MT's are the punchiest subs I have ever played with! I have quite a few setups coming out with MT's, for daily/bassrace!
