I've been away from car audio for a long time, and now I have a friend that is looking for a system. He has $500-$600 to spend on subs and amp. Looking for maybe 2 12's, or one if its loud enough. I'm still running a Shocker Super Extreme 12(are they even still around?) with a D2 that I've had forever, still sounds great though, and that's what got him interested. Any suggestions?

I'm currently running one db drive platinum 15 in about 8 cubes ported. I'm only using a PPI 280X 2 ch amp bridged to one and theres no way it's putting out more than 500 watts and it's crazy loud for a total cost of less than $300 including shipping costs and cost to build the box two layers thick. If he is willing to spend more get the db drive sub and a hifonics 1500 or any of those other fairly cheap 1000+ watters (crossfire, mtx, ma audio, alphasonik, visonik, possibly even soundstream)

Get an Alpine Type R 15" and a 1200 watt amp. That will be enough for your friend and he will be under the $600 limit. If ya think 1200 is too much for a single 15" (which i know the sub will take it) 2 12's an 1200watts. Use a ported box, that will make the whole setup that much louder [Wink]
