So, I finally started my wall and it went extremely quick...Only took 2 evenings to get where I'm at now. Anyway, enjoy the pics...suggestions/comments welcome!
Gutted back seat
Inital frame out
Inital box out
Finished box out and sealed up
Another pic from futher back
It's starting to look like a wall!

I'm going to be putting in 2 dB Drive 15's. The power (or lack of power) will be from a single Hifonics 1000 for now. As soon as I can I will be getting 2 1500 or 1800's. The box is about 13 cuft with an SPL port of about 416 sq inches. I'll be making a daily port of about 60 sq inches. Otherwise, I just need to trim out the box and seal around the edges. BTW, does anyone have any cool tricks to seal the front cabin area from the rear of the car...I was just planning on using 'great stuff' but that ****'s messy. Thanks for looking!

ya man throw those 15s out and buy my 15s and throw in thier!
and i don tthink thiers a clean way to seal off the cabin unfortunatly... i asume you could do a bunch of small trim pieces that go up against the side trim panels and roof and floor as well... cut the contor to match realy close! then build a frame for these pieces to screw to, then use some weather striping and route it on the outside edge of the trim panels..... BUT that will take alot of work and planning!!!!!!!!!! id say just go buy some trim panels outta the junk yard and spray that crap all over to seal it up.LOL

if u guys have ever heard db drive PL's in a good install u wouldnt say that. i sell, run and compete with them, great subs. these subs hang with all the big subs but slam harder than most of them. i recomend 1krms min per PL. they like to see 2-3krms per sub. get bigger amps, get a couple db drive 2000.1's only draw back is they are pricy but great.
looks like a good start!...SPLaudio

I think I'm going to try to put some plastic up and try spraying the GS between that and the box. Also, there are more pics coming real soon. Subs are in and daily port is installed...All that's left is to seal the cabin and hook up teh power. And the amps are proly gonna be 2 hifonics 1500 or 1800's or visonic...haven't decided yet...looking to spend less than $600 on both if anybody has any ideas?

just gotta seal it off totally or ur gonna get cansulation. those subs come ALIVE with over 2k each. i have installed many of them and with a 1200d on a pair of 15s there is little excursion, maybe 5-7mm each way. if u were only planning on running 3k total u would be louder with just 1.
with the comp car firing out of a trunk we only did a 142.6 with 1200rms each went to 1800rms did a 145.7 on the same ac-190. dropped in 2 db drive 2000.1's strapped and 146.5. a few enclosure mods now up to a 147.8dbs. next season going with 4 2000.1s, the subs will take it no problem for burps. just to show u the difference in dbs between 1200rms each and 1800rms each there was a HUGE jump. they have done this jump in several installs i have done with the PLs'...

yea, I'm still trying to decide the best way to seal it off. As for the amps...I'll be getting the most I can for my budget. I'm looking at either a single visonik 4000d or two hifinics at the moment. I will look into the db amps but from previous experience they are rather pricey.

nope, don't even have an amp yet...I did hook up my ppi midrange amp to one sub and it was amazingly good for what it was...I'm suprised I didn't blow anything..haha...hopefully within a week or two it will be playing all out and then I'll need to get it on a meter. If it's over 150 I'll be happy...155 would be nice tho.

haha...that didn't last long...I ripped all that $h!T out and i'm going to build two boxes to compete with...one for street which will be one 15" in about 6 cubes ported...and another about 12 cubes for two 15's that will be setup like a wall but will be loose in the car. I noticed a few people at nopi with similar "wall" setups that can easily be moved, which allows for multiple testing positions to get max SPL. Stay tuned tho...I'll have pics of the new stuff soon. Still looking for some good 1000+ watt amps if anyone has any. thanks

Here's the massive amplifier putting out an incredible 320 watts of pure music power: Here's the box (8 cubes with 66 sq in of port tuned to 35 Hz): The whole box is two layers of 3/4in MDF thick (including the port): A close up of the oh so sweet 15" Platinum dB Drive sub: Here's looking at where the wall used to be. And yes, that 8 cubic ft box fits behind the seats in the cargo area:
One thing does kinda suck tho...I will have to cut it down to be below the window line to compete. And obviously a bigger amp when the time comes. However, I'm waiting to get a list of all the actually rules and regulations so I will know exactly what's allowed (lookin to compete in IdBL Stock 161-260 for starters).

i know since there is one show a year in GA. and i hear u have a wall now lawl maybe u can cheat and keep it that big because iasca inforces no rules. 1 amp per sub in street iasca fyi
hey dude do a burn out
make it legal for dbdrag street b they actually have rules unlike some people
I think i will go to dbdrag shows too if i can actually get loud and if that makes 2 shows in ga that would be good then go to florida over and over and over

sweet...Yea, i've been looking over the db drag forums they are so awesome! But, yea a meter would be good, I'll have to come borrow that sometime.

vented; if ur running QC's double ur power and u'll do alot better. those subs will handle well over 1k per for burps. they like LARGE enclosures...

like 8 cubes with a huge port because they were bottoming out at like 55 hz in the box maybe its just tuned way too high or the port is flexing too much
posted
bottoming out? i dont think it is possible for the vc to bottom out on that sub. i have installed the qc 12 with over 1k rms no problem. sound like a air leak or u are playing below tunning? what are u tuned to? the qc is the best budget spl sub out there i have heard. ur enclosure size is great for a pair of the 12s. do u have pix's of the install?

Deminsions of my messed up ass wall that hits a 144 lol 24.5x34.5x16 inside 16 is the depth the port is 5.75x24.5 not sure on the length due to a 45 in the back corner that is 5 inches from the end of the port. the port wall goes back 11 inches then there is some added length due to the angle in the back. maybe 16 total. the 45s in the back of the box combine to about 5x5x24.5 then the woofer displacement... 7.826cft-.177cft (woofer side 45)-1.47cft(port) so i am down to 6.179cubic feet still minus the woofer disp and its 2 qc 12s The face is double thick the port flexes and there is no bracing. the face still probably detaches from the box and there is a leak
i am thinking its around 47 and peaks at 57 which is higher than my car which is closer to 52. i burped 55 i think and the woofers were bottoming out. with 800 watts of brutus
it seems like they are free airing maybe its just the rushed construction maybe the box is too big or maybe its tuned too high but i am thinking rebuilding 1.5 thick with bracing cant hurt and have a bigger box to scale down as needed from the inside. maybe its too much port too ???
