Does anyone have any ideas as to how my 97 Jeep Grand cherokee, making a left turn, got hit by someone running a red light, on the rear passenger door. The car was a VW van 1971, travelling about 40mph. I always hear about how unsafe SUV's are, but the person sitting next to the door that was hit, didnt even have a bruise/scratch. I dont know about you guys, but my Jeep just earned my respect as far as safety goes. I still feel all "weird" and "limp legged", from the accident and its like 20 hours after it happened already. Just thought i would let everyone know, and God Bless.

I hope its worth saving, but either way, doesnt the insurance company take car of it? I think it might be totaled, because there is alot of damage to that door/side, damn, that really pisses me off, because i've put soo much work into this car as far as my stereo goes. To see it all go down the drain like this, really rubs me the wrong way.

the thing with SUV's is that they have a higher center of gravity (CG) than most cars and trucks. my boss had a brand new (2000,,,mighta been a 1999) Montero and some lady ran a stop sign and T-boned her as well...her SUV was flipped over on it's side. and the lady wasn't going more than 35MPH. just depends on what vehicle you're driving.
i too agree that the Jeeps are a pretty safe vehicle...but i hate those damn things in the city. can't see around or thru them to see what is going on in front of them but i'm not tryin to start a war here so i'll chill.

Yeah, Jeeps are pretty tough. I rolled my Grand Cherokee 2 1/2 times down a hill a year ago on some nasty ice. It was totalled, not a single piece of glass left, and it was about a foot shorter, but I didnt get more than a scratch. Not too mention that the 5.9L V-8 has some BALLS for an SUV. Take care.

Dex, When you totalled it. Did the insurance company find a new one for you, or did they just give you cash for the blue book amount of your jeep?

TSI? Well now you can use the cash to get a real Jeep(read 5.9). No, really man, sorry I was just joking, I am sorry to hear that and am glad every one is ok. Hey, by the way, what is your Blau? I was talked out of a Blau HU by everyone on the JU board (jeepsunlimited.com) before I ever even asked about it. I was looking at the San Fran. Sorry again.

hehe, yea, i love the 5.9's. i have the 5.2, flowmaster 50, k&n intake, so im right there with the stock 5.9. I really like my blau, its the Hamburg CD-70, the san francisco is the one that is one better than the hamburg. It is much better than the Hamburg, and also one of the best headunits available, besides some Nak. that i listened too a few weeks back. They have fr/r pre outs, 4v on both models, and also a sub out. The SF has quite a bit of equalization to it. Although some of the very expensive alpine decks are probably better, the blau, is very understated, and less likly to get stolen.
