just stick it in slowly, not too hard, not too fast, just slowly work it in there, and it'll loosen up after a while.

play some lower frequencies to get that surround stretchy. Do that for about a year then it should be broke in.

Leave the sub out of the box, and play 25 Hz through it for a couple of ours with enough power get it moving. I wouldn't be suprised if it will take all 800 watts free-air at 25 Hz. Even after that it probably won't loosen up much.

I don't understand why you went with such a LARGE box and then tune so low?? I bet a 4-5 cube box tuned that low would have been as good

the larger box will have more low bass output due to a higher efficiency...model some subs on WinISD (or any other box modeling program) to verify this. if you don't have it you can get it from http://www.linearteam.org (think it has an automatic redirect...actual link may be .uk)

but a smaller ported box will give the sub a lower F3 compared to a larger ported box, assuming the same tunning frequency.

yes but the larger ur box the bigger ur peak. so since DD has such a stiff suspension they can drop lower then tuneing and with the larger peak means they can still drop low while keeping the peak high.

however when u do this with my tempest (same box sizes work for it as the 9515) it sounds good only certain times and cant drop low at all. it loses its composure very easily and makes it easier to blow the sub too!

huh? Not in most cases. A larger enclosure will usually lead to greater low end extension, but there is a point where what you say is some-what correct. I'd go with the larger enclosure if you like loud low bass, as it'll give you more of it.

Find an umpa lumpa and tell him it's a trampoline. After he has a heart attack or dies of hunger, whichever comes first hook up your amp and maybe within a year or if you get another mtx and hook one to each coil it'll be broken in. Mine were extremely stiff I couldn't push the cone in more than 1/8" but I fed it 3500 watts for a while and that seemed to help. Now I can move it almost 1/4" haha

unfortunately no i do not. its nothing special, looks just like your setup. plain ole box just put in the back of the durango and the amps are hidden in a little compartment where the optional 3rd seat should fold down if i had the optional 3rd seat.
i too would like to see what these subs can do ported cause they are plenty loud sealed.

icewall, did ya get the sub yet or what?

i got the sub now.... hmmm i expected it to be big but DAYUM! i mean its beautiful. and i looked at it and it was what i expected but when i picked it up!!! well my back still hurts from last night.

it took me 4 hours to sand out the hole because it was too small but with a bit of umph i got it in.

now all i need is some foam to seal it off, more wire because my 4 guage is NOT cutting it.

so far the spl is down the tubes because of the air coming out of the rim of the sub but the sq is NUTS! i NEVER expected it to sound so good in such a large box.

just have to wait for my wire and my second mtx81000d.

the only change after yesterday is that everytime i go to sit into my car a HUGE evil grin appears on my face
