not much thanks to the 3" plate the tweeter is mounted to.

The kicks are massive b/c the tweeter has both a large diameter (due to the plate which couldn't be removed) and due the overall depth (magnet is huge). To put it in perspective, the tweet is about as deep as the 4" midrange driver [Eek!]

Don't know how they sound b/c my amps and active crossover aren't installed. [Embarrassed] All in due time however...

No clue on the vinyl type, but I know it was originally dark blue. Vinyl dye (spray) was used to make it black.

But the thing is you have the kick as such a huge angle.....also, I doubt a 4" needs that much airspace.

DITO

looks nice but dang... thier goes 1/2 your leg room and id be realy afraid of passengers kicking them since the bars are preaty small. [Frown]

id like to see bigger bars or another bar or two added. and it would look even beter if the tweeter had vinyl over the outside of that tweeter making it look smaller.

look nice tho man keep up the good work!.
p.s you wanna build my next kicker panels for my truck [Wink]

The tweet is an Eton 25-SD and the midrange is an Eton 3-400. Both are for use in "home stereo" applications.

No, it rarely snows here and when it does, it's usually just an inch or 2.

that is exactly what I dont like about them. Besides the lack of footroom they look badass. Looks like you put a lot of time into them. Good job

I don't quite understand...the kick is massive...is it vented?

are you trying to make up for the rolloff of the driver with such a low Q enclosure(assuming sealed)? whats the x-over point for the midbass and midrange?

I guess i'm asking why you choose this driver...was it the extended top end you wanted? the 5-880 seems like a better choice

I asked at a few forums for DYI 3-way components and this is what sounded like the best setup for my application. My dedicated midbass driver is going in the stock door locations (Vifa PL 7"). It was recommended to me to use a 4" midrange over a 5.25".

Crossover points haven't been selected yet but I plan on using an active crossover, so it just boils down to dialing in the right frequency.

The kick has a vent hole but it's not ported perse.

Futhermore, the overall angle of the kicks is a direct result of the aiming technique I was told to use, thanks Winslow [Big Grin]

I'm fairly confident they will sound good since I followed Winslow's fabrication and aiming instructions to the tee. Andy supported what he suggestions and I feel those two members are the definitive authority on SQ installs.

Once I actually hear the kicks, I'll give my report, but that won't be for a while since everything's coming down to an active crossover install, which requires external amps which all hinges on a HO alternator. [Embarrassed]

are you building an enclosure for the doors? the vifa PL 7" driver isn't well suited towards Ib...the midbass will be rather disappointing

i was curious as to the 4" driver because it has a rather high rolloff in the region i would assume your using it in, the 5" would definitely be a better choice and more suited to your enclosure(though its rather big for either)

the 4" has a much better top end and will be a lot easier to blend with the tweeter, which is the reason i was thinking you might have went with it =]
