I am going to buy one 12" HC RE sub and I can't figure out what kinda box I should build for my 2000 f-150 extend cab. I definitely want to go ported but im not sure if i should make a big ported box or a smaller ported box. I also dont know where to fire the sub or put the port. I want to go vented as well. Any advice? THANKS!

I haven't played with the 12s, but make sure you order first thing tomorrow if you haven't already. They'll probably sell out tomorrow or Monday. Have you looked at the boxes on their website? www.respl.com

I love ur envoy system! I am only going to run one HC (for now) cus i'd like to save some room! I dont have an SUV so my space is limited compared! Plus I dont know how to build a box like you. I know nothing about making or tuning a ported box either. I definitly dont have the same amount of room as you do. HELP!

As far as enclosure: 2.25-2.5net, 35sq" of port tuned 30-34hz. If you can fire up, I would do that. I don't know if you want to keep the back seat in there or not which might force you to fire a certain way. If it was me, I'd buy 2 15" HC's with the sale, rip that back bench out and go from there

Well i dont know how to build a ported box. I have no idea how to tune or anything...i dont know where to face the port in my truck either. I have found that subs sound best when firing up and they are located behind the passenger side seat. I just dont want to end up hearing port noise and annoying me...

To ondubz: Thanks for the compliments! If you can build a sealed box, you can build a ported box! The actual construction is no more difficult at all. It will take slightly longer since there are more parts, but if you take your time and measure everything correctly, it will be just as easy as sealed. The hard part is designing it, but there are PLENTY of people on here that will be more than happy to help you with it. When you have some more concrete plans, just tell us what sub you'll be using, what amp, and the dimensions you have to work with. Also, let us know which direction the sub and port will face. We can help with the actual dimensions. If you know what tuning frequency you want, let us know that too. If not, just tell us approximately the ratio of spl/sq you want. For example, 50/50, 60/40, or 70/30 spl/sq ratio. If you can tell us all that, we can draw you up a diagram that you can use to build a nice ported box. Believe me, it's worth the extra effort to go ported if you have the room.
Thanks. I may have to check out the Oklahoma Spring Bash if I get the chance. If it were dBDrag, I'd make it a point to be there. Not sure if I'll make the drive to spectate at a USACI event or not... Time will tell.

I heard about it on Termpro. People were talking about it, so I called up RE. Like I said before, if you're gonna order HC's, call them absolutely ASAP because they may already be out. They were on clearance. BTW, how come you wanna sell the 18XXX so soon??? You've talked about that thing forever. Now you haven't even gotten it installed in a suitable ported box (have you?) and you're already wanting to get something different?
