outside the vehicle is illegal. .but anywhere you can think of inside is perfectly fine for a ss. (i believe. we'll have to see what happens when the new rules come out)

i don't think battery placement will change with the new rules.. BUT.. loading batteries in a luggage rack is not permited. following along with the 2001 rules ( again.. 2002 shouldn't be any different) " all equipment must remain within the vehicle proper". meaning.. no racks hanging off the rear bumper, no luggage racks, no bumper extensions, etc. and concerning a SS vehicle.. you cannot put batteries "anywhere". they must be behind the front seats. You can have them on the floorboard of the rear seats, now having them extend past the door jamb, as long as they are not attached to the enclosure, i thought it was legal. but apparently not. ( as per finals). best bet.. throw the batteries in the back !!..lol

now what happens if you had a ford explorer with one of those luggage compartments on top that was enclosed, could you still put them in there? it is a add on piece made to keep suitcases dry.
