I've got about 3.0ft^3 to work with, and I'd like to put 1 or 2 subs in the back of my Trans Am. I don't have the amp yet, but it's going to be an 81000 from MTX. I want to stay sealed, but could go ported (I just don't like the SQ of a ported box, no matter what anyone says). Would 1 or 2 DD 3512s work with the space I have? Should I put each one in 1.5ft^3? I want great SQ and SPL over 145dB on the dash. Right now I plan on getting an IDMAX but I know those DDs are indestructible and I want a good reliable sub. Also, I'm a big fan of hard hitting deep bass (like 30 Hz and lower), stuff that you can't really hear but alot of air is moving. Thanks for any help.

Well, if your after loud SQ, the ID Max is probably the way to go. Personally, Id look for a bit more power and have a pair of ID Max 12's. That is alot more money though, and as much as id like to think so it dont grow on trees. Hopefully somebody will know more about the DD's in sealed boxes, you dont see if often....barely at all to my knowledge. Best of luck to you!

Yeah, most people just port them right off the bat. Hopefully someone can help me.

And if anyone wants to complain about how I've posted "x" number of topics in the past month about this sub v/s that, call me indecisive (sp?). I can't make up my mind and I've only got 1 chance at making the right choice, money is tight.

Well if you like low/loud bass than get the max and run it full power off that MTX. Trust me you will only need one.

Yeah I would get one IDMAX fot the 3 cubic feet. with that much air space it will play real low

but if you can wait for the 15, I would get one 15

What year Trans Am do you have? If its a 4th, or 5th generation, you should have plenty more then 3.0cu ft back there. I personally fit a 7.5cu ft box in the back of my 94 camaro. It took some work, but it fits like a glove. Getting an enclosure like that back there, would make the DD's much happier. If you want any pics of the box, you can email me at bebasshome@aol.com. Goodluck
