my trunk rattles terribly, i know sound and pressure are both getting out of it.... I do not have the funds or decent enough of a car to dynamat it sooo here is my idea.... I made my box so it would slide like 2 ft back into my trunk but i found that it plays best at about 8 inches from the back.... What if i made a surroud in front of it, made it 8 inches in front and slid it back... This would kinda be like a huge port i guess facing into the car... up and over the top of the box(as the waves do travel) I hope ya understand what i am saying... .____________ .<<..................| --------------| |......subs>|.....| |................|.....| |................|.....| ------------------
The subs would be teh direction of the subs> and the << means into the car.... Thanks AC Does that make sense?

That sounds like allot of work... Does your WHOLE back seat fold down? What if you made a new box, where the front baffle board just barely fit inside the frame of metal where your trunk opens up into your cabin. Then you could push the box right up to that frame, secure it, and then seal the gaps between the box edges and the frame, with fiberglass or somthing. You would completely bypass the trunk, and just have SPL and sound in your cabin. No air would be pressurized in your trunk, except for whats sealed up in the box. Byebye rattles.

Yes, I meant fire all subs and ports into the cabin, and seal off the trunk from your cabin. It's an idea I've been toying with for my car... drawbacks are that it would be hard to seal, and be somewhat pernament, and since the subs are so far forward, the waves may not develop as well as facing back in your trunk. On the other hand, you would totally bypass the trunk. The subs would basically be inside the cabin, since the box is totally sealed from the trunk. I believe SPL would jump up high, and rattles in the trunk would cease unless you have a ton of box flex.

i have also been toying with this idea since i have previosly had subs facing forward in my car, they where crappy subs.... Anyway, i have heard from other people that you loose low bass when you fire forward....But here is another question, my set up would be kinda facing up a lil, at an angle...would this work if my subs where facing at the natural angle of the seat and my ports where also or should they be straight... My rattles are terrible...ahh Also, would 2 3512s in the same setup as i have be guarenteed to be louder? I think so but i still need a lil boost of confidence before i sell my subs and stick the money into new ones.... Thanks for any info.... AC also, how did you fit 5 cubes in your trunk... all i can mannage is a pittiful 34 before displacement... Thanks again AC
