I want to see everyones opinions on what sounds the best for tight, hard hitting bass. MDF, particle board, fiberglass, plexiglass or anything else.

I would like to have everybodys opinions. Thanks.

I'm gonna have to vote for Fiberglass on MDF. That's probably because it's most commonly used, and because that's all I've ever used.

MDF is better than particleboard for sure, just because it's stronger

MDF 4 sure. Cheap, strong, and easy to work with.

I've used them all and they all work ok. The particle board is fine for small sealed boxes (10's or 12's) the mdf and plywood I've had good results with and in my town plywood is cheaper than mdf by about $8 a sheet.

not sure how the box material would effect it when properly braced but 1" plexiglass is very stiff. of couse this is cost no object otherwise MDF works great

Use MDF (for price reasons only) and make the shape that your woodworking skills permit. As simple as possible is nice, especially when you're figuring out displacements.

my box was 3/4 inch particle board with about 4 gallons of fiber glass resin inside, and out. my box is SOLID, but it also weighs like 4,000 pounds.

i had 12's in it, it was about 7 cubes per.
