Ok, I'm kinda new at all this stereo stuff and comps. And all around on these pages I've seen everyone talk about their boxes being tuned to a certain hert or what ever. Well I was just wondering how it is done, or how you find out what it is tuned to. Also how bad it could it affect the spl if I was playing way off of what my box is tuned at?

Tuning your box has to do with the size of the box and how large in diameter and length the port is. There are lots of books and cpu programs out there that can tell you how big and long would be tuned at ?? frequency. And yes there should be a high gain in dB's if you play the tuned frequency. Being loud also depends on the resonate frequency of your car.
