Hey, what's everyone's opinion, the old Rockford 8130, or the new one, I believe to be 8230. Let me know what you all's insight is.

From my understanding they didn't change all that much, just the face... I am not too sure so don't quote me... I remember hearing about more preamp outputs... I could be wrong... I love my 8130 and I will not upgrade until its dead... Thats all I have to say....

Would you like fries with that???

Just curious, how do you all compare Rockford to other head unit lineups like Alpine (my fav) and other top brands. I've heard mixed things. Some love, some hate.

The main reason I bought my RF a while back
was to be different and to have a more
all RF system (for fun) I had talked to
a few that got RF decks and they seemed
happy with the SQ. I compared different
decks and I prefered the Clarion, Eclipse
and RF's SQ. RF was 3'rd by a small margin.
Although I admit Nak has a nice SQ too.

My RF unit and it's changer have been
extremely reliable and far out SQ the mid
line Sony, Pioneer, Panasonic and Alpine
units I had before.

how do you judge the sq of a deck? I mean what factors are you talking about looking for? I've always run mid-line Alpine decks and been really happy with them. Of course, I've never had my stereo in one install long enough to do major tweaking, so sq has really suffered...

I compare back and forth with a home audio
system I have set up. You want as realistic
a sound as possible, kinda hard to put it
into words....
Anyway, I have a class a amp going to two
custom speakers and a class a/b (homemade)
going into a special home sub (homemade
cabinet)
Oh and have a SQ disc. Iasca and Usac have
good discs to test a system's abilities
with.

I've got the Iasca disc, but no home unit. I really feel bad, but since this whole db drag craze, I've become so infatuated with bass that i've really let the sq slide a long ways. I've found myself living with a pair of 5.25 coaxes until i find time to finish the box (which is never completely done)
