I am building a competition system in my 92 Nissan Maxima....so far we have a boston acoustics 6.5 pro comp set up front in kick panels as well as 2 6.5 boston midbass in the doors...an optima battery is in the spare tire well...i also have 2 fosgate 12"Dvc subs running on an 1100a2power amp...the front speakers are on a 400a4 by rockford...2 Stinger 1 Farad caps are on one side of the trunk....an eclipse cd changer and the boston crossovers are on the other side...the amps and a symmmetry are mounted in a raised position between the box and battery in the spare tire well...this brings me to my problems...i want to add some rear fill to the system to give it more of a "surround sound", the amps are already loaded as far as they will go....which means i would need another amp...but we are out of room for amps....any suggestions? also will the judges count off for having a hidden amp that is separate from the others?
p.s.- the rear fill speakers probably will not be used in competition so could i possibly just act like they arent even there at shows? please help with any suggestions....we would like to have this project done by august1.

This is a toughy...
I've seen judges take off for equip they
couldn't see to judge. This is probably why
I know of several competitors who hide
equipment that isn't necessarily cheating
but it wasn't able to be worked into the
'theme of install'. So they say nothing.
I'm afraid I don't know what to say.

PS: You did vent the battery, right?

The battery is mounted in a fiberglass tub and is vented by a hidden fan that pulls air out of the chamber and in through a small diameter air tube that is ran to the outside of the car. As for the design problem.....do you think we should risk hiding the 3rd amp? perhaps between the box and the back seat?

The 400.4 is 4 channel, yes? Could you not run the rear fills on the rear channels, or are they powering the additional 6.5 midbasses in the door?

You could hide one, but what about wiring all of the door speakers into the front 2 channels of the 400.4 (can you bridge the mid-bass drivers [2 from one cross-over] into a 2 ohm stereo load, or will that screw up the system?) and then take the rear fill into the rears of the 400.4.

Could even put in a pair of "cheapies" and run them off of the deck *duck* *dodge* (Rotten vegies thrown in my direction for that suggestion .)

I see you said something about putting an amp in between the box and back seat. Do you have a ski-pass. If so that is a good place to show-off a small amp. I just did a glass tub with neon to hold some Quart Musicomp Crossovers in the ski-pass of a prelude. I am not familiar with your car. If it has a trunk you might think about mounting it to the trunk lid. You could make that look real good if done right. Just an idea.
