Does anyone know where to get linear actuators? I want to use some in my install but I don't need them to be as large and heavy duty as the ones from select products. I just need them to lift up grills and covers and maybe an amp or two. 4-6" long and don't need to hold much weight.

Check a satellite TV shop. The big dishes use actuators anywhere from 8-24" long, they are 24V (run a little slower on 12V, big deal) and are way cheaper than a 'car audio' actuator.
We used the power hatch motor out of a Z28 in my brother's truck. It's a little bulky and only has a 1.5" throw, but it's plenty strong.
