I'm in the process of installing a system in my girlfriend's '98 BMW 323i and I've run into a snag. The stock deck has been replaced by a Sony XRC 7200 with a proper adaptor plug and I'm trying to bypass the amp in the rear quarter. I understand that caps must be used for the tweets and hi-range speakers and I will run the mids at full range (yes, 3 pairs of different seps up front!). At the amp I am bombarded by alot of wires. Q: Which ones are which? Can I test them? Any advice on this matter would be appreciated.

if the system is similar to the one in my 750 the best sounding option(unless you are adding your own amps) would be to feed the factory amps the speaker level output from the radio. it will need that voltage to turn the amp up(input wise) i used it that way in my car for a while with a cva 1000 on the stock system. i have also done this on a 540 and a 318. one drawback the levels are not matched very well and at 2/3 on your new deck the amps are maxed out (they cant take any more input) i have tried different adapters to use the rca's from the radio i.e. pie's pdcloc and even two linedrivers but they didn't work any better Good luck

I agree with Dukk, I have found when working on the BMW's the best thing to do is to runn your own wires. More hassel in the start but it is worth all the time.
