i was trying to find the most effective way to "burp" my subs. I was wondering how to construct a burp button and what to interrupt (rca's, remote wire, or speaker lead?) and how. thanx for the help.

Well, the remote wire is no good since your amps then have to turn on, fire up, and finally jam full blast!

I would do the speaker wires myself but you need some pretty stout relays, such as a PAC 80, and that could get expensive.

The RCAs is the most practical for an instantaneous contact. Be careful though. A serious car around here went this route and they found (after 5 complete sets of smoked woofs!) that when they hit the button it sent a pretty hefty spike through the signal chain! Kinda hard on gear.......

Tech man made a nice little burp button schematic that hooks inline with the RCA's..

The trick with a solid state mute circuit..
(a burp button), is the isolation of DC in
through the circuit. Otherwise it is simply
the best way to get the job done.
I'll have to look to see if I still have the
circuit avalable to post.
