Hey Guys

Im a UK Bassracer and just got back from Hamburg and the Finals (GO TEAM UK SPL!)and seeing the Hertz SPL Monstor CRX has made me want one. so I thought I would ask where the peeps know their stuff

Im looking to use one to do 149.9 with a number of 10 or 12" subs and 10k in a boot build I have done walled cars and really like the look of a rex

for street bass is it better to fire against the back of the boot (sorry 'trunk') or fire up against the boot lid (trunk lid)

My current thinking is subs up as far forward in the box as possible and slot port firing up against the boot lid like the Hertz CRX but the SPL guys all fire back - im after just a musical install and i will be doing db drag but in whatever class i fall in - the 149.9 is the target

cheers for your help guys - and any other pics of big booming systems in a crx would be good to

Subs up and port back. I would use the old school crx box of 29x29x14. That should work pretty well in the 50 hz range.

Subs forward ports back works really well also. The best number I was able to do in bass race was a 149.7 with 2-10" subs, 2 American bass 500.1's, one Northstar G-2700 battery and one alternator. This was my Street A setup so I would have to say 4-12's on one solid amp and 3-4 batteries should do what you want with ease. Try using Scooter - Crank it up or Bass Mekanik - Bass Mechanic for songs. Keep us posted.

will definitly keep you updated - its going to be a big long build

I actually just ran Scooter through my epicenter on my current system (SPL Dynamics SPL-460 with 3k) and it drops the bass to 35ish hz which is fantastic so might give it a shot - i have high and low on my bassrace cd as well as Great DJ by the ting tings (with an epic it kills) so all posibilies

just some words of cuation if you are going to use a crx for bassrace bae sure to take care of the back end of the car!! a team member has a crx with four 12's subs up port back with two 3500's and he pulled all the bolts for the tail lights through the sheet metal!! and he also split the sheet metal all the way across the bottom where the spare tire meets well the back of the car!! you should be able to do the 149.9 class pretty easy!! good luck!!

Good Point - going to make sure the back of the car is nicely reinforced to handle it

4 12's 2 firing to each side 2 4 inch areo ports per box 7 inches long. 28 X 28 X 14 will get you an easy 149.9...... 2 Layers of Dampifier pro. and fill all open holes with spray-foam.

My poor CRX had to go to the breakers after just 1 season of the 149.9 class.
